Suggested Use
- The Original UnBraider is used like a brush.
- Prep the hair for take down by moisturizing the hair for four to five hours before unbraiding. The
- Comb Out; Soft Conditioner is recommended.
- Grab a section of braids and evenly cut the excess hair.
- Take that section of braids, and brush down starting at the bottom of the braids.
- Use the short tines to brush out micro, small, and medium braids.
- Use the long side to brush out large braids.
- As you work your way up the braids and the braids becoming larger, alternate from the short
- tines to the long side of the brush.
- Use small brushing motions down to detangle any knots that may come along.
- Brush down until you reach the top of the braids and all the braids are unbraided. If there is a knot, use the top tooth of the long side to remove the knot. Be careful as the tooth has been sharpened and is very pointy.
- Repeat this method with another section of braids until you have unbraided all of your braids.
FAQs
Why do I need to moisturize my hair if it is synthetic?
Moisturizing will minimize breakage to the hair; although every time you remove braids there will be a process of removal of dead hair. Moisturizing the hair prior to manipulating the hair with the tool will make the hair more malleable, thus making the braids brush out with more ease and minimize tangling.
How many braids can I take down at once?
The amount of braids depends on the size of the braids. The Original UnBraider can brush up to 8 micro and small braids. For best results, brushing out 3-4 medium and large braids is recommended.
Will it work on natural hair?
The Original UnBraider works on both natural hair, synthetic extensions and human hair extensions.

The Detangling UnBraider
I was excited to try this, but I ended up not loving it. It still took me almost 4 hours to take out small knotless braids that were a little bit past shoulder length. The grip part of the brush would not stop sliding down and frequently very close to coming completely off. That is a major flaw that kept slowing me down. The grip needs to be glued to the brush, especially since I was using water and conditioner during the take down process. Another thing I’d like to note is that I have multiple cuts on the inside of my left hand due to the tool continually slipping and losing grip from my right hand and the teeth poking up my left hand. I guess the positive thing is that this tool minimized the use of my fingers to take down my braids, but it didn’t cut down on time. It was simply a tool that made things slightly easier, but not enough to make a significant difference in taking down braids.

If you braid your hair more than 1x per year and hate the take down process, you should get this. I have been doing my own braids since I was a teen (now in my 30s) and this product is great. I typically do small regular braids, with the parts to match and with this product I was able to take down 4 to 8 braids at time. And the grip in the brush is amazing. They should make a regular detangler brush like the tangle teezer, but with their grip.
My tips: It's best to use this product with water and a cheap slippery conditioner b/c I used alot . After cutting, dampen your braids from root to end with a spray bottle. It should be wet but not dripping. Apply conditioner. Work in sections and grab a 4x4 section. Starting at the bottom, making sure you have all the braids undone before moving up (this will make sure you don't get tangles as you move up). If you start to get resistance, add more water and/or conditioner. As I got closer to my roots, I would only do 1 or 2 at time while I held my roots.
Cons: I did cut my thumb while I was taking down my braids b/c the product works better with something behind it (i.e. my thumb or hand). I think the next product should be some sort of glove or thumb or finger protection.
Love it. Haven’t had a chance to really use it, but looks like it will make braid takedown a lot easier.
