When we set out to create a formula that actually works for taking down braids, we knew it wouldn’t be easy—but we didn’t expect it to take five rounds of reformulation, countless tests, and so many tweaks to get it just right. Now, we’re finally one step closer to bringing it to you, and we couldn’t be more excited.
If you’ve ever taken out braids, you know the struggle—knots that refuse to budge, breakage that makes you cringe, and hours lost trying to detangle. Traditional detanglers weren’t cutting it, especially on braiding hair, which is designed to repel moisture, making it even harder to soften and remove.
That’s why we partnered with AJ, a brilliant Black cosmetic chemist from Sola Labs. As a braid wearer herself, she understood exactly what we needed: a detangler that breaks down buildup, softens shed hair, and makes takedown way easier. After months of testing and refining, we finally got it right.
