The energy was high, the braids were laid, and both teams brought the heat.
On April 27th, the UCLA campus was home to an unforgettable Powderpuff showdown between Dub Club (UCLA) and the Women of Troy (USC). From sideline celebrations to end-zone hustle, both the underclassmen and upperclassmen games were packed with passion, sportsmanship, and serious style.
Big shoutout to the Dub Club for taking home the wins this year — but honestly, every player brought something to the field. It was more than just a game — it was a moment.
The UnBraider was there to capture it all. We were proud to see so many players rocking their protective styles and showing how braids stay ready under pressure. Here are a few of the girls we caught up with after the game:
Ari | Boho knotless braids
Keeps her scalp happy with regular moisturizing and oiling, and always wraps up in a scarf and bonnet at night. Protective style queen!
Allisha | Braided ponytail
Washes weekly, adds leave-in conditioner and mousse, sets it with eco gel and a diffuser, and wraps it up tight with a scarf or bonnet.
Alyssa | Boho knotless
Simple, solid, and effective—tied up and bonneted every night to keep it fresh.
Lani | Middle part natural
Refreshes with water and product daily, sleeps in a bonnet, and when she’s in braids? It’s scalp oil, mousse, and a clean finish with Design Essentials.
We were so proud to be part of this moment and uplift the community—on the field and behind the scenes. 💜
